If you’ve ever found yourself worrying about ambient EMF radiation entering your home from things like cell towers or power lines, then you may have wondered what you can even do. One option you have is anti-radiation curtains (sometimes called EMF protection curtains) to protect radiation from entering through your windows. Typically these actually come in the form of a curtain liner but can be a fantastic way to reduce your ambient EMF radiation exposure.
In this brief article, I’ll talk about what these anti-radiation curtains are, what they are made of, how they block radiation and the best place to purchase them.
Let’s get right to it.
What Are Anti Radiation Curtains?
If you’ve read my article on EMF shielding bed canopies, you may be familiar with the various materials typically used to block EMF radiation. Typically these are a fabric made from some sort of metal capable of shielding EMF radiation such as nickel, copper, aluminum, or silver, combined with a polyester.
The silver material is woven through the polyester to produce a lightweight, tough, and protective fabric. There are popular brands of this material on the market, such as Blocsilver, but there are also companies that produce the bulk material un-branded and sell it for a lesser price.
This material is used to make curtains, or more commonly, curtain liners.
Using anti-radiation curtains or curtain liners will block up to 100% of EMF radiation coming into your home through the windows. So if you have large windows in your living room that you sit in front of, this may actually reduce your exposure by a large amount.
Unfortunately, this will only block the radiation while the curtains are closed, but will provide great protection. If you want a solution to block radiation from entering your windows while the curtains are open, you can actually get a film that goes over the top of your existing windows.
Hopefully, if you’ve found your way to my website, you at least have a basic understanding of how dangerous long-term exposure to EMF radiation is, so I won’t cover it in this article. However, If you aren’t familiar with this, I’d encourage you to look through the Knowledge section of EMF Academy to get a thorough understanding of the science showing how harmful EMF radiation is.
Where Can I Buy EMF Blocking Curtains?
There are a few good places to get these kinds of curtains or curtain liners, but I found the least expensive and most reliable place to be Amazon. If I were to buy a product today to protect my windows I would suggest Moondream EMF protection curtain liners.
The nice thing about these liners is that they are actually intended for just this, so they come with a properly sized velcro strip of adhesive. So you put one side of the adhesive velcro towards the top of the curtains, and then you can just attach or un-attach the anti-radiation curtain liner as you need it. Note: They do suggest that to make it extra-secure that you sew a few stitches on each side of the strip of velcro to keep it better attached to the curtain itself.
You can see in the image to the right how this works. This is a fairly inexpensive and extremely easy way to get EMF protection curtains without actually purchasing the expensive curtains themselves.
Another benefit of the Moondream curtain liners is that they are blackout liners, so they block up to 100% of the light coming into your home. So if your curtains are a bit thinner than you want them to be, these can provide that extra darkening.
Can I Make My Own Anti-Radiation Curtains?
Absolutely!
You can easily purchase EMF blocking material in bulk and then either make your own curtain liners or just build your own curtains depending on the type of rod you have. I think the best deal would be the Blocksilver Material you can get on Amazon.
This material is made out of 55% Silver fiber, and 45% polyester. You can use it to make anything from clothes to blankets, to curtains. It has an attenuation of around 60 dB, which means it blocks about 99.999% of EMF radiation, which is just as good as you can get.
Although it cuts a bit different than normal fabrics like cotton, you can cut it to create what you need. Just make sure you take a look at what kind of curtain rod you have before you design the curtains. You may be able to just make simple slits, or you may have to put holes into the fabric to create the curtain.
