EMF radiation is everywhere, and depending on the source, exposure, and type of EMF radiation, it can be extremely harmful.
Most people associate the dangers of EMF radiation with the most common culprits, such as cell phones, WiFi, smart meters, etc.
However, many household appliances can actually emit a much larger amount of radiation than you would expect.
That is why I wanted to talk about a few of the very best Low EMF heating pads, and then talk about why it should matter to you.
So, first, let's look at the very best low-EMF or zero-EMF heating pads on the market, and then I'll go in-depth into why this should matter to you, and why this type of EMF exposure is actually dangerous.
Best Low EMF Heating Pads
When you're trying to find a quality heating pad that will emit either an extremely low amount of Electromagnetic Frequency radiation or no EMF radiation at all, there are many things to think about.
You want something that is reliable, comfortable, has deep heat penetration, etc.
Since distance is one of the most important factors in understanding how much EMF radiation our body absorbs, finding a low EMF heating pad is extremely important as it is directly against our body.
In this guide, I rate the best heating pads based on all these factors, but I do weigh EMF radiation emission much higher for this particular guide.
What you're left with is the absolute best heating pads, if you care about EMF radiation emissions.

1. UTK Far Infrared Jade & Tourmaline Low EMF Heating Pad
Check the current price here.
The UTK Far Infrared heating pad is one the most popular on the market, and for good reason. This is a spectacular quality heating pad, with incredible reviews, for a really low price.
First of all, the company claims that the device emits no EMF radiation whatsoever, which is pretty incredible.
However, since it is heating jade and tourmaline stones (those are the green and brown stones you see in the picture, respectfully), and these stones provide the far infrared heating element, I do imagine that they emit extremely low amounts of EMF radiation.
This is also one of the most reasonably priced Zero EMF heating pads you will find.
The UTK has small stones, that allow it to still be flexible enough to wrap around any body part you need.
It does an amazing job of penetrating deep into the muscle tissue to relieve tension.
The UTK is great for back, shoulder, hip, leg, arm, knee, feet, or any other kind of pain you might be experiencing.
It has a velcro strap that you can use to keep it strapped for longer periods or to allow you to move while using it.
The company suggests using it for 30 minutes daily, or as your doctor recommends.
Some of the features include:
- LED controller: (you can see in the picture) that allows you to adjust heat settings between 103-159 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Time Settings: set it to automatically turn off anywhere between 0 and 240 minutes in increments of 15 minutes.
- Long Cord: The UTK far infrared heating pad comes with a 10-foot cord, making it really easy to use it just about anywhere.
- Carrying Case: Since the heating pad is a good size, and contains small stones, it includes an excellent carrying case that makes it easy to travel with.
What Is The UTK No-EMF Heating Pad Made Of?
The pad is made of soft leather on both sides and also contains non-toxic cotton, 52 individual jade stones, and 20 individual tourmaline stones.
Tourmaline stones are thought to generate negative ions, which some studies suggest may counteract certain effects of EMF radiation.
Overall the UTK Far Infrared is one of the absolute best low EMF heating pads on the market. It is extremely well-reviewed, quality-made, and emits low to no EMF radiation.
2. MediCrystal Far Infrared Amethyst Mini Mat
Check the current price here.
Almost without question, the MediCrystal Far Infrared heating pad is probably the best on the market if you care about EMF radiation (or possibly even if you don't).
However, it is certainly not the least expensive mat you can get, in fact, it is quite expensive, but if you read through this review, or check out the reviews on Amazon, I think you'll find out why.
First of all, it contains around 6.5 pounds of small, untreated, Amethyst gems from Brazil, making the total weight of the mat around 9 pounds.
These stones are covered with extremely high-quality, eco-friendly leather.
The mat itself uses a heating system that MediCrystal says is completely free from EMF radiation.
The digital controller itself emits a very small amount of EMF radiation, but since it is not in contact with the body when you're using it, it's not much of a radiation risk.
The controller allows you to set temperatures anywhere between 86° and 158°F (30°-70°C), and includes a system that protects the mat from overheating.
Medicrystal claims that the Amethyst crystals contained in the mat, allow it to provide heating infrared rays, that both help heal the body, and penetrate deep (up to 8 inches) to provide complete relaxation and release of tension, as well as help with all sorts of tightness and muscle issues.
The way the mat is designed allows it to produce negative ions that help the body to restore its correct, and most natural electrical charge, which in turn can help heal the body.
This type of Hot Stone Infrared therapy helps to detoxify the body, fight illness by boosting the body's natural immune system, burn fat, improve metabolism, and much more.
If you're looking to get a better night's sleep, the company suggests doing a session on low temperature before bed to help boost serotonin levels and promote healthy restful sleep.
The mat is extremely comfortable and does a great job of helping relieve pain and tension associated with arthritis, chemotherapy, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, strains, and just about any other muscle or joint-related tightness.
The MediMat comes with a free multiple-layer waterproof cover that helps protect it from sweat, spilled a drink, or just general exposure.
In the end, it's hard to describe just how great this mat is, but suffice it to say that it is unlikely you would regret purchasing it!
3. HealthyLine Natural Far Infrared Jade & Tourmaline Stone Heating Mat
Check the current price here.
The HealthyLine Infrared heating mat is another relatively expensive, but fantastic heating mat that emits almost no EMF radiation.
The unique thing about this mat compared to the two previous ones I covered, is its size.
This mat is 74 inches long, and 24 inches wide, making it large enough to lay your entire body on it for full body relief from stiffness and pain.
Like the UTK heating pad, the HealthLine mat uses a matrix of jade and tourmaline stones to provide Negative Ion therapy as well as far infrared ray heating.
This type of heating helps to promote a healthy immune system, flush toxins from the body, promote fat loss, and relieve muscle tension.
One reviewer of the product mentioned that she used it throughout chemotherapy to help her body heal and remove toxins, and felt that it made a great positive difference for her.
Since the mat is so large and contains many stones, it is quite heavy, about 17 pounds. It does come with a high-quality custom case to help you carry and travel with it.
As far as EMF radiation goes, this mat is similar to the other heating pads. The company claims that it emits no EMF radiation whatsoever, which is likely true for the mat itself.
However, the remote that controls the heating and timing settings emits just a small amount of EMF radiation. Check out the video below to see this demonstrated.
Overall this mat is probably the best value if you are looking for a large, full-body, low-EMF radiation heating mat. The reviews are excellent, and the company really stands behind their products.
Here is a fantastic video showing that the HealthyLine emits no EMF radiation from the actual mat itself.
Now that we've covered the absolute best low EMF radiation heating pads on the market, let's talk a little bit about why you should want one.
Do Heating Pads Emit EMF Radiation?
Yes, Regular heating pads do emit EMF radiation. This is especially dangerous since these pads are kept so close to the body.
The concept of the inverse-square law tells us that as we double our distance from a source of radiation, we quarter our exposure to it.
This means that typical electric heating pads that you would get at your local market will expose you to a large amount of radiation as they are directly against your body.
Now, it isn't just heating pads that are emitting this kind of EMF radiation.
In fact, I’ve written articles on radiation emitted by microwaves, refrigerators, washing machines, and even alarm clocks, just to give you a good amount of knowledge about how these devices emit radiation.
The largest culprits in your life of this type of radiation are likely to be your cell phone, tablet, laptop, home router, smart meter, local cell phone towers, etc.
These are the things we typically think of when we think of the dangers of EMF radiation, which is why it’s important to gain at least some understanding of how other appliances work.
However, out of the many devices out there where it is worth paying extra to get low-EMF products, heating pads are certainly near the top of the list.
Not only because they are coupled with a thermal aspect that can be dangerous when coupled with non-thermal low-frequency EMF radiation, but because they are directly against the body.
How To Measure EMF Radiation From A Heating Pad
For this, you first just need a quality EMF meter that can measure all types of EMF radiation. I always recommend the new TriField TF2 (read my review) as it’s simple to use, lasts forever, is extremely accurate, and measures all three types of EMF radiation.
To measure the radiation (for example, see the HealthyLine video above) simply turn on your EMF meter to measure electric fields, and move it towards the mat while it is on.
Slowly sweep the EMF meter over the mat, and see how much radiation it emits at various places.
Even the heating pads I mentioned above, that emit low or no EMF radiation, are likely to emit a small amount from the remote, and from where the remote plugs into the mat itself.
However, where your body touches these heating pads you should read almost no EMF radiation.
Are Low-EMF Heating Pads Safe To Use Every Day?
Absolutely, low-EMF heating pads are much safer for daily use than traditional heating pads, especially when it comes to minimizing your exposure to harmful electromagnetic radiation.
Most low-EMF heating pads (like the ones I talked about in this article) are specifically designed to emit either no EMFs or extremely low levels, often using far infrared technology to provide deep, effective heat without unnecessary radiation risks.
Now, having said that I would still try and stick to the manufacturer's safety recommendations.
Final Thoughts On Low EMF Heating Pads
If you use a heating pad often for various ailments, getting a low-EMF heating pad is certainly worth the investment in my opinion. You will be saving your body a ton of exposure, and keeping it healthier and safer from the known dangers of EMF radiation.
Since these pads all use far infrared heating and hot stone therapy, they also have a ton of other health benefits.
