I've talked about quite a few different products on EMF Academy, but one that I haven't talked about much is the trend of EMF protection underwear and boxers.

Well, it's high time we talk about EMF-blocking underwear, how they work, and why you might own a pair one day.

So, what are EMF protection, or anti-radiation, underwear? Essentially, it's exactly what you would think. These underwear are made of a radiation-blocking material, often silver mesh, and then covered with comfortable cotton or flannel. The idea behind the underwear is to protect your reproductive organs from EMF radiation, specifically from your cell phone.

That is the basic answer, but there is a bit more to this, which I cover in depth after I list the best available products.

How to Choose the Best EMF Protection Underwear

When it comes to choosing the best EMF protection underwear, it’s essential to know what to look for.

Not all options are created equal, and the right pair for you depends on your specific needs, preferences, and daily activities. Here are the key factors to keep in mind:

Almost all of these products are made similarly, but there is a difference in quality, protection, and comfort.

I did my best to test, research, and conclude what the best products are, but be sure to do your research to make sure it's the right fit for you.

Over the years that I've been working on EMF Academy, I've had the opportunity to try and test more than a dozen pairs of EMF-blocking underwear and boxers from various companies, and I must say, that this pair from Silverlining is probably the best I've worn.

Not only do they work as intended and offer top-tier EMF protection, they are surprisingly comfortable and easy to wear.

You'll notice that with many EMF-blocking boxers, they can feel stiff, or not very breathable, and that is not the case with these from Silverlining.

Here are some of the things I like most about these boxers:

What I like

First of all, I really like how comfortable and soft they are, I find them to be just as nice to wear as my regular cotton boxers.

Even more important though, is that these boxers can block more than 99% of the radiation from getting through, including 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and the radiation from your cell phone.

One of the things I appreciate about the All Citizens EMF blocking boxers is how thoughtful the design is, which we'll get into more in a minute.

My Favorite Features

This has become by far my favorite pair of EMF protection boxers available on the market, by a fair margin.

First of all, although their pricing isn't the very lowest on the market, it is certainly on the lower end.

This is especially true if you sign up for their monthly subscription model, where they deliver the product to you, in your size, every month at a reduced cost, and with no contract.

I've had a chance to wear the boxers myself now and can say definitively that they are very comfortable and feel really high quality.

Given the quality of the company, the quality of the product, and the very fair price, these are a fantastic buy.

Lamb's boxers block at least 99% of EMF radiation, which they actually have the test results to prove, you can view those here. It does seem though, from my interpretation, that the testing was done on the Wavestopper material and not the finished boxer product. This is common in the industry but I just wanted to point that out.

Their anti-radiation boxers are also anti-bacterial, and anti-odor, and anti-microbial because of the silver Wavestopper mesh.

Their boxers are made of 53% cotton, 42% silver, and 5% nylon and are also machine washable.

One good thing to know, at least about the Lambs, is that they won't set off metal detectors at places like airport security.

4. SYB (Shield Your Body) Anti-Radiation Boxers

The second-best pair, in my opinion, is from a company I really like and respect, called Shield Your Body, or SYB.

I know the owner, I've tried their products, and I think they made some great products. I also think they genuinely care about helping people.

The only reason that I mention all of that is that there are certainly companies out there that are just trying to profit off of the growing trend of EMF protection.

In my opinion, SYB is not one of those companies.

Now, let's talk a little bit about the product itself. First of all, it is very similar in design to the ones above.

It's essentially a pair of boxers, made of 42% silver mesh, that is covered with cotton and nylon. Like the others, this offers protection from heat, as well as being anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic.

All of the products I've mentioned so far use a similar silver mesh microfiber, but SYB has a really great video showing how their boxers work to block EMF radiation.

I also love, at least at the time I'm writing this, that SYB offers a lifetime warranty on their products.

Although these are expensive, they are certainly the best product on the market right now in my opinion.

5. OURSURE Women's Anti-Radiation Underwear (Best Women's EMF Blocking Underwear)

There aren't as many anti-radiation women's underwear on the market, although there are more coming out.

For now, I think this may be your best option if you're a woman looking for this type of product.

First, the blend of the entire product is silver and Nylon. The nylon provides stretch and comfort, and the silver provides EMF protection.

The Amazon listing claims that they provide up to 60 dB of shielding effectiveness from frequencies 3 GHz and beyond.

I think that this claim is a little far-fetched since 60 dB would mean 99.9999% EMF blocking. It does say “up to 60 dB” so I suppose they can get away with it but just seems like an extreme claim.

They mention that the underwear, even with the high levels of protection is still quite breathable and comfortable, and have sizes to fit most people.

The price is a bit high, but that is probably in part from a lack of competition in this area. I think as more companies come out with anti-radiation women's underwear (Lambs is coming out with a pair soon) the prices will go down and the quality will go up.

Now that we've covered what the best EMF blocking underwear available are, let's go a bit more in-depth on how these products work, and what to look for.

Anti-Radiation Underwear – How They Work

First, let's go over the basics that apply to just about all EMF protection clothing.

Basically, the concept is, that you use a material that is able to block, or attenuate, EMF radiation from things like cell phones, WiFi, smart meters, etc.

We'll talk about this more next, but typically the material found in EMF-blocking underwear is a breathable, malleable, metal mesh made of silver, aluminum, or copper.

Understanding Attenuation, and How To Evaluate EMF Blocking Products

Essentially no material is capable of blocking 100% of radiation, instead, they typically attenuate it.

Attenuation, in physics, is the gradual reduction in force as energy passes through an object.

A few examples would be:

• The tinted glass on your car attenuates the sunlight as it passes through.
• The lead vest you wear at the dentist attenuates the X-rays and keeps your body safe.
• Your bedroom door attenuates the sound in your house as it passes through.

So, although you might think that anti-radiation clothing like underwear, blocks 100% of radiation, that isn't quite true.

Instead, it will usually be an attenuation rating (listed in decibels).

I tell you all of this because it's the only way to evaluate how well anti-radiation underwear, or any other product, actually blocks EMF radiation.

Take a look at the chart below and you'll gain a better understanding of how the decibel rating relates to the amount of EMF radiation the product blocks.

So, if you're evaluating a pair of anti-radiation boxers on the internet, and it says that the protection level is 15 dB, then you can assume that it is only blocking about 94-95% of the radiation.

Now, that is still much better than blocking 0%, but it's important to know when you're shopping for a product.

How EMF Protection Underwear and Boxers Block Radiation

So, the material used by most of these anti-radiation underwear companies is a silver-mesh.

You can sort of think of it like medieval chainmail; interlocked chainlinks of silver, tightly woven together.

It works to block the radiation, because the size of the openings, is smaller than the shortest wavelength of most microwave, or radiofrequency, radiation.

Havn, a growing company whose flagship product is anti-radiation boxers, puts it this way when talking about their “Wavestopper” technology (just their branding for silver mesh):

Electromagnetic radiation cannot pass through holes in conductive material which are smaller than their wavelength. This way, it is possible to shield an object from EMF by surrounding it with a conductive wire-mesh like our Wavestopper Technology.

When encountering this electromagnetic shield, the radiation induces a displacement of electrons inside the conductive material, which causes, in return, the radiation to be reflected the outside instead of going inside the shielding.

We used this scientific fact to make our Wavestopper fabric: the silver inside the cotton is sewed in order to act as a wire-mesh and shield what’s inside from EMF. So, to sum most of this all up, in case you just skipped down this part, here is how anti-radiation underwear work:

EMF blocking material, usually silver mesh, is wrapped in clothing materials like cotton and polyester, to provide high amounts of attenuation, ultimately protecting your reproductive organs from potentially harmful EMF radiation.

Now that we know how it works, let's talk briefly about why it matters.

Why We Need EMF Blocking Underwear

Alright, time to talk briefly about why EMF radiation is dangerous and worth protecting ourselves from.

I don't want to go too in-depth about this in this article, because if that is what you came for, I have many other articles and resources on this website that will serve you much better, including:

However, it's important that we at least briefly talk about the basics of EMF radiation dangers, especially as it relates to the reproductive organs.

How EMF Radiation Affects Male Fertility

Although there is female anti-radiation underwear on the market (and more products on the way), the more popular products are anti-radiation boxers or briefs for men.

This makes sense considering the wealth of research that has correlated EMF radiation exposure from things like your cell phone to reduced sperm count and mobility.

A study published in 2014 in the Central European Journal of Urology evaluated how sperm reacted when placed next to a cell phone. The study took healthy sperm samples from 32 different men, and then each sample in half so they could be compared fairly.

Both were placed into a thermostat, with all conditions identical, except, one of the split samples was placed next to a working cell phone. After 5 hours the samples were removed and compared.

As you would imagine, the sample next to the cell phone saw a decline in sperm motility and direction, as well as a dramatically higher DNA fragmentation count.

If you're interested, I'd encourage you to consider reading the conclusions of the study, it's actually quite interesting. Ultimately, they concluded that:

A correlation exists between mobile phone radiation exposure, DNA–fragmentation level and decreased sperm motility.

However, it's not just cell phones we need to worry about when it comes to protecting ourselves from EMF radiation. Another issue is laptops, which we often use, right on our lap.

Several studies have shown that using a laptop (especially if it's connected to WiFi) directly on your lap can significantly reduce sperm count and motility. An article published online in 2011 similarly showed that having a laptop on your lap for even just 4 hours can result in a loss of effectiveness in about 25% of sperm.

Another study of 361 men, published online in 2008 concluded the following:

Use of cell phones decrease the semen quality in men by decreasing the sperm count, motility, viability, and normal morphology. The decrease in sperm parameters was dependent on the duration of daily exposure to cell phones and independent of the initial semen quality.

The study showed that men who used a cell phone for 4 or more hours a day, had a 40% lower sperm count than individuals who didn’t use a phone at all.

Now, if you already have children, or never do, this still has implications for you. A paper published by Harvard showed that the quality and quantity of your sperm is actually a great indicator for your overall health.

Alright, now that you understand what anti-radiation underwear are, how they work, and why we need them, let's look at some of the better products on the market.

Final Thoughts

Here is the bottom line. Anti-radiation underwear, although a concept that is a bit hard to get used to, is actually a really smart product. We know now that EMF radiation does have potentially negative effects on the body, and specifically to the reproductive organs.

Luckily, more and more companies are making products like this, which means they will only continue to improve moving forward.
